Fontworks Newsletter | June 2001 A shorter e-briefing this time round but no less momentous! Before you slackers all pack up for the holiday season we'll leave you with these important messages: - A FAMILY AFFAIR: THE IDENTIKAL CORPORATION SIGN UP We are delighted to announce the release of 12 new font families from the ground-breaking Identikal Corporation's "Family Foundry" vehicle. Innovative faces such as 'Sharp', 'Phat', 'Rayzor', 'Seize' and 'Kneeon', inspired by the club and underground dance music scene, set new standards in contemporary type design. All typefaces are exclusive to Fontworks. The Family Foundry was set up five years ago when its founders Adam and Nick Hayes (identical twins, hence the name!) were still at University. Its prime aim was to push the boundaries of modern font construction, which still applies today. We reckon the twins are Brodys for the Noughties (Naughties?) and to celebrate the alliance Fontworks have just published an awesome A2 poster, designed by Adam and Nick, to promote the collection - contact us if you'd like to get your hands on one. We'll be uploading images and PDFs soon so keep your eyes peeled. Samples and purchasing of Family Foundry Fonts - INTRODUCTORY G-TYPE OFFER DRAWS TO A CLOSE We've been very good to you for a while but all good things have to come to an end sometime. Nick Cooke's popular G-Type collection, including favourites such as Houschka , Nubian and the latest display weight Digitalis , has been heavily discounted for the last few months but prices will revert to normal as of July 1st 2001. So if you've been holding off from making that Gizmo purchase then now's the time to buy. - LINES & SPLINES A site to check out is Andy Crewdson's Lines & Splines weblog about type and type design which seems to be updated almost daily. Julian Morey's VMR font (Club 21) was recently mentioned by Andy due to its prominent appearance on the cover of Stephen Bayley's "General Knowledge" book designed by Graphic Thought Facility. - TYPE SPECIAL EDITIONS PUBLISHED Just time to mention two recent typography editions of MacUser and Eye (issue 40) magazine that include a plethora of links and info on our exclusive collections and others besides. Our thanks to the writers and designers at each magazine and in particular Eye photographer Anthony Oliver for his great full page photo of assorted Fontworks posters and marketing materials. |
