Fontworks have acquired a limited amount of the renowned Adobe Originals™ specimen booklets.

Adobe Originals™ are a program of original typefaces designed specifically for the electronic age. Produced with the spirit of craftsmanship that inspired Gutenberg and comprising both originals and revivals of classics from typographic history, these types set the highest standard of typographic excellence.

Type has been developed at Adobe by a full-time staff of type designers. Each member of this group has specialised skills in design and in the using of the tools needed to develop digital type. In addition, Adobe's in-house staff works with outside designers and with its distinguished Typographic Advisory Board - a group of well-known professionals who represent a broad spectrum of the graphic arts industry.

The specimen books (145mm x 225mm), which are beautifully printed, are sure to become desirable collector's items. Along with excellent type showings, each book provides background on the typeface and its designer and shows inspirational sample art.

Particularly outstanding is the Poetica specimen. The Poetica fonts are modelled on formal chancery handwriting scripts developed during the Italian Renaissance. Designer Robert Slimbach has captured the vitality and grace of this writing style in a series of integrated fonts which include flourished letterforms, ligatures and variant characters. Supported by sample art of the highest standard, the Poetica specimen booklet is a must for every designer's reference source.
